Radiation Cooking is a heating process that does not require physical contact between the heat source and the food being cooked; instead, energy is transferred by waves of heat or light striking the food. Two kinds of radiation heat are used in the kitchen: infrared and microwave.

In a commercial kitchen, the microwave oven, if used at all can be referred to as "Chef Mike."
