This Pecan Cheese Crisp recipe calls for Toasted Pecan Halves which can be made two weeks ahead of time. If you have your hands full with other prep, you can also substitute Roasted Pecans for the Toasted Pecans. Roasted Pecans should Hold for a week or two in the refrigerator so they can be made well in advance.

With your Pecan Nuts Roasted or Toasted, you can begin your preparation by preheating your oven to 400° F (204° C). While the oven heats, you can Chop the Pecan Nuts and Grate the Parmesan Cheese.

You should also set out your Parchment Paper onto your Baking Sheet.

Begin the active phase of the recipe by stirring together the 6 oz. of Parmesan Cheese (about 1 & ½ Cups) and the Chopped Pecans together in a Mixing Bowl until they are well incorporated.

Spoon the well mixed cheese and Nut mixture onto the prepared Parchment Paper on the Baking Sheet. Each spoonful should be at least 2 inches from its closest neighbor. The mixture should form little mounds.

Flatten each mound into an approximately 2 inch round circle. All of the circles should be close to the same thickness so that they all cook as evenly and uniformly as possible.

Bake the Pecan Cheese Crisps until they are golden brown. This should take about 7 to 10 minutes depending on the efficiency of your oven.

Once they are golden brown, use Oven Mitts to remove the Baking Sheet from the Oven. Transfer the Pecan Cheese Crisps to a wire Cooling Rack and let them cool for 15 minutes to crisp up.

Pecan Cheese Crisps can be made ahead and will hold for about 4-5 days in an airtight container. If you want to extend the shelf life store them in the refrigerator. You should separate each layer of Pecan Cheese Crisps with a layer of Wax Paper so that they don’t stick.

Remember when working with Nuts, like Pecans, that some of your diners or guests may be allergic. Communicate with them to prevent any accidents.
