Cloves are Sweet and Aromatic.

Clove is actually a Latin word for nail, which gives you an idea of how hard it is. The tree will grow to a height of 50' and produce approximately 7 lbs (3 kg) of the Spice. 

There are records from China as early as 200 BCE where courtiers would keep Cloves in their mouths to avoid offending the emperor while addressing him.

Production

The Clove is actually the flower of the tree which, when, picked, is then Blanched in Boiling water and Dried in the sun.

Culinary Uses

Whole Cloves will be used to "StudOnions and Orange peels for mulled Wine and Apple Juice. When Ground it is used in Curry Powder, PastriesRelishesChutneys and Fruit Salads. Be cautious with how much you use, as it is very strong.
