Crème Fraîche is another variety of Fresh Cream that is a soured cream with a butterfat content of 28%. In fact, Crème Fraîche means "Fresh Cream" in French and is a French product.

In Europe, Crème Fraîche must only be made of Cream and a bacterial culture. 

In addition to French cuisine, Crème Fraîche has become part of the traditional cuisines of Romania, Belgium, Holland, Lithuania, Norway and Sweden. 

Production

Crème Fraîche is soured with a bacterial culture, similar to how Sour Cream is made but it turns out fattier and less sour.

Crème Fraîche can be found in most higher end Specialty Grocery Stores in the United States.
