The Houdan Chicken is a large (averaging 8 lbs) Continental Chicken originally from France. They are striking birds with a v-shaped comb, a crest, muffs and a beard.

Houdan Chickens come in white or mottled colors. They are close cousins of Crevecoeur Chickens and Polish Chickens.

Culinary Uses

The 5-toed Houdan Chickens are primarily exhibition birds, but they do lay around 200 to 220 small white eggs a year, making them average laying hens.
