The Sorrento Lemon in Italy, is the lemon used in the making of the Italian liqueur, Limoncello; 60% of the lemons cultivated are reserved for Limoncello. It is also the most widely used lemon for fresh consumption in Italy.

The Sorrento lemon has a drop of yellow, highly fragrant, medium-thick peel. Its ovate in shape with tapered ends. The pulp is translucent yellow in color and yields a large quantity of semi acidic juice. Though the flesh is very low in seeds and often seedless, the lemon cannot be sold as a seedless variety.

Purchase Italian Sorrento Lemons that are heavy for their size. The Italian Sorrento Lemons skin should be bright yellow, smooth, and have no scars. Italian Sorrento Lemons should also be firm when pressure is gently applied in the palm of your hand.

Storage

Italian Sorrento Lemons can be stored at room temperature or in the refrigerator. When stored at room temperature, Italian Sorrento Lemons will last 7-10 days. When stored in the refrigerator, Italian Sorrento Lemons will last 3-4 weeks.
