A Metal Skewer is a Skewer (essentially a stick with one pointed and one non-pointed end) made from any number of metals such as Stainless Steel or Aluminum.

Metal Skewers are most often used with High Heat, for example on open Grills and in Ovens, but they can be used at lower temperatures as well. Metal is more durable, heat-resistant and has a greater weight-bearing capacity than other materials used in Skewers, such as in Wooden Skewers. An additional advantage is that metal is not a high friction material and foods can easily slide on and off Metal Skewers.

The major drawbacks of Metal Skewers are their cost and the fact that they can become extremely hot, as hot as the cooking environment, which can lead to burns for a careless chef or diner.
