A Pressure Canner is essentially a larger Pressure Cooker. Size is the major difference but a Pressure Canner will have a built in pressure valve and may have some additional gadgets, like a jar rack or basket, that facilitate canning. 

The pressure gauge is useful for canning low acid foods, meats and fish and monitored to ensure that they are cooked for a specific period of time at the necessary pressure level to kill dangerous Pathogens.
