Bruschetta are slices of bread that are Grilled or Broiled (their name is from the Italian word bruscare, meaning “to roast over coals”) rubbed with Garlic and Olive Oil.  Traditionally, they are also then seasoned with Salt and Black Pepper and served plain. In modern-day parlance, Bruschetta has come to mean any Grilled or Broiled small slice of bread topped with savory ingredients.
