Cross Contamination can occur by our direct action or through our storage choices.

Follow the tips below to cut down on the chance of accidental Cross Contamination.

  • When refrigerating food: place raw meat, poultry and seafood in appropriate containers or sealed plastic bags to prevent their raw juices from dripping onto other foods.
  • Never store raw meat above fresh vegetables.
  • All refrigerated foods should be properly labeled and wrapped or stored in a suitable container to avoid contamination.
  • Do not allow any unsanitary surface (such as the outside of a food container to touch any refrigerated foods or food products.
  • Always check dates on cartons and packages as you store the items.

Always use the oldest packages of an item before using a newer package. The First-In should be the First-Out.
