Measure internal temperatures with a probe thermometer. Stick the probe into the thickest part of meats, or the center of other dishes, avoiding bones and container sides. The measurement should be taken for 15 seconds to get an accurate reading.

Culinary Uses

The idea is to get a reading of a representative internal temperature, to know how well done the dish is and to determine if it has been raised to a safe enough temperature to consume.
