According to the USDA, the label “No Hormones Added” must mean that no growth hormones were used in the creation of the product.

The claim is an important consideration when shopping for Beef and Mutton, which are allowed the use of growth hormones if desired. For Pork and Poultry it’s a useless claim, like saying water is wet, because hormone use is not allowed in the production of Pork or Poultry. If your package of Pork or Chicken claims to be hormone-free they are just telling you the product was made legally, the same as all other pork or chicken. In fact, the claim "no hormones added" cannot be used on pork or poultry labels unless it is followed by a statement that says, "Federal regulations prohibit the use of hormones." The second statement explaining the Federal rules is usually much smaller than the first claim.

So don’t be misled. Hormone Free can be a good way to go, but you already get hormone free in every package of Pork or Poultry.
